EASTER 2020 GET AWAY ANOTHER DAY

Every Easter since I was about 10 years old my family had this idea of visiting an island in The Bahamas. This all started when my dad was transferred to Great Harbour Cay one Easter. I remember my brothers and I waking up each morning running down the stair case of our marina side condo to watch Winnie the Pooh on Disney and then shuffle over to the kitchen to watch mummy make grits and egg. We’d then go to the dock slip and catch a boat to spend the day on one of the neighboring cays where we’ play in the clear blue waters, build sand castles and make sand angels. I’d always end up getting stung by something whether it be a sea urchin, jelly fish or wasp. LOL to this day those island visits are etched in my memory bank and some of the fondest childhood experiences.

Fast forward to 2020 and this tradition is still a staple with my family except grand-kids have now been added to the Easter holiday trips. We’ve visited to date the following islands and some a few times over.

  • Exuma & Stocking Island
  • Eleuthera
  • Harbour Island
  • Abaco & The Cays
  • San Salvador
  • Bimini
  • Grand Bahama

Which Island are you visiting this Easter (or had plan to visit)?

This Easter holiday I was excited to check out a new resort in South Andros called Caerula Mar Beach Club. It’s a quaint yet gorgeous hideaway opened in 2018 and has all the simple yet elegant charm that makes me feel like the domestic tourist I am. The resort is a mere 15 minute flight from Nassau to Congo Town by Cessna or small seater plane. I loved the fact that they will help you organize everything from your reservation to your flight arrangements to the transportation from the airport and the excursions. I was so looking forward to wearing nothing but caftans and swimsuits, looking forward to riding the bike trail, anticipating the mouth watering cuisine and island made drinks and just about ready to sit by the beach writing and journaling and capturing every single moment of my kids playing and lounging. But instead I’m “safe inside” and in the middle of planning for another time this year that I can visit this beautiful place and share it’s amazingness with you. Until then check out some of the beautiful pics of what will be a trip to remember soon soon.
